The next chapter is about to begin for Madame Gabriela. But to take you there, we are going back to my past.
I discovered Saint-Tropez many years ago, as a young Mexican girl when I first moved to Paris. I had the opportunity to travel to Nice and from there to St. Tropez, eyeing up all the magnificent coastline villas along the way. My friends and I spent many a sun-kissed hours that dewy summer doing the inevitable splash-shop-lunch-Rośe, and I found myself utterly enchanted by the light, the sounds, the colors, the atmosphere – and that "Je ne sais quoi"… I inevitably explored the paradisiacal beach restaurants and the exceptional nightlife, which are truly in a class of their own (Tahiti Beach, Byblos, Les Caves du Roy, and co-founder Geoffrey's favorite restaurant in the entire world, Club 55).
I can still visualize that first day: look left at the edge of the old village, at the sailors’ cemetery, begins the path leading to Les Graniers beach, a small cove surrounded by greenery, then onto the great Pampelonne Beach, between Saint-Tropez and Ramatuelle. This is where the Saint-Tropez myth all started, when the sleepy fishing village became the ultimate in casual très chic – and still is.
Saint-Tropez has it all. Outrageous yachts, all-night parties, an authentic village (with world-class luxury retail), stunning sandy beaches and landscapes adorned by Aleppo pines, picturesque vineyards and great food prepared by local and international chefs. Plenty of contrast, and it works. A place where the sun never slips out of fashion – though we love to watch it sink beneath the balmy horizon.
